Horse Center Facilities

The Horse Center sits on 60 acres on Wire Road, a short drive from the main campus. The center is home to 50-70 Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds and warmbloods which are used in the teaching, research and performance programs.

The main barn includes a 10-stall barn,
covered farrier and veterinary treatment area, laboratory space, two tack rooms, locker room, and office.

Horses are maintained on continuous turnout as much as possible. In addition to the eleven pastures, four individual paddocks with single stalls allow for individual turnout or isolation.

Two outdoor performance arenas allow the Western and Huntseat teams to ride simultaneously. The side-by-side arena configuration gives spectators a great view of the action during home meets.  Renovations of the stallion runs and isolation paddocks were completed in 2008, which allowed for the addition of a third arena and several round pens to accommodate the growing undergraduate program.
