What Amanda Does Now
I work with all aspects of food safety and quality assurance in the a Tyson distribution chain for Northwest Arkansas including Tyson owned distribution centers and contracted outside facilities. My job duties vary whereas one day I may be evaluating products for production plants or sales; another day I may spend dealing with government, customers, food banks, and sales; and then my day might even get wild when I work on allocating product to donate to one of the many animal sanctuaries in the Northwest Arkansas area. (Of course, the tigers are my favorite!) One interesting part of my job is that even though I have a degree in Poultry Science, my career experience has been with poultry, beef, pork, and FDA products such as tortillas, pizza crusts, soups and sauces.
Auburn Memories
I have way too many awesome Auburn memories to pick just one. Even though I grew up in the Wiregrass, going “home” always means going to Auburn to me. One memory that always makes me smile is the naps and studying that I did on Samford lawn and the Hamer Aviary. The lawn at Samford is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places to be on a spring afternoon. There was nothing like being able to hang out and study on the lawn outside of Haley and watch War Eagle VI watch over the students. So many great memories made at Auburn that I’ll never forget. They all come flooding back to me when I run in to another Auburn alumni in my new home, Northwest Arkansas.
