I am a small animal clinic emergency veterinarian, working mostly nights and weekends. Whenever emergencies come in, I see it.
The Rain Game: Auburn vs West Virginia, 2009. The game was delayed by an hour and a half (if I remember correctly) due to a monsoon. The announcer recommended everyone in the stadium seek shelter due to severe weather. The whole stadium escaped for cover…with the exception of the student stadium. For a second, we all wondered if we should actually seek shelter. The, over the speaker system, the song “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” started playing. In that moment, every member of the student section simultaneously thought the same thing: “If they REALLY wanted us to leave, they wouldn’t have started playing fun sing-along rain songs…RIGHT?” So we all stayed in our seats, sang along, chanted Bodda Getta, sacrificed our cell phones and bounced a beach ball around. When the severe weather had ended, the stadium filled back up and an excellent football ensued. Auburn won 41-30.
