Our mission is to provide students the opportunity to gain experience with horses, increase awareness of equine activities, and to promote horsemanship, leadership, and service.
At our meetings we host speakers and offer hands-on activities that provide meaningful education to students with any amount of horse experience. Topics in the past have included first aid, foal handling, parasite control, hoof care, and discussions on a variety of riding disciplines. We also plan fun activities to promote membership bonding.
Every semester we raise money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital by hosting a Saddle Up for St. Jude trail ride. Members have the opportunity to help at HORSE U, Alabama Horse Fair, Storybook Farm, NATRC rides, FEI horse trials, and many other events. We track membership participation by awarding Star Member Points and our most involved members are rewarded at the end of every semester.
Please be aware that we do not have the resources to provide horses for members to ride, so we are not a riding club. If there is enough interest, we plan a spring trail ride at a facility that will provide horses.
